Emotional Freedm Technique - EFT Tapping
A body-based therapeutic tool to process stress, emotions, and physical blockages.
The state of your health is influenced by the sate of your nervous system
Even your thoughts are impacted by how regulated your nervous system is
What is EFT?
The Emotional Freedom Technique is a body-mind based therapy that is used to process emotions, stress, and traumas stored in the body . Basically, to balance your nervous system’s response.
Originally, it was called TFT (Thought Field Therapy) and was a silent technique, using only tapping in strategic rhythms and sequences to release physical and emotional pain. But as this therapy evolved, principles of Positive Therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) were included in order to become more of a mind-body based therapy focused on stress and traumas.
EFT is now considered a somatic therapy (body-based) and is coupled with mind-based psychology to regulate your nervous system.
-
Emotions are communicated to the body through the nervous system, and the appropriate hormones are triggered as a response to these signals (the hormones tell your body how to act according to the emotion).
As long as the signal keeps on happening - even if the emotion is long gone, the hormones stays in the body. This is what I mean when I say that an emotion is stored in the body. Depending on the hormones and their impact, different parts and systems of the body are affected.
Tapping brings relief by allowing the body to release the stored aches and verbally process the trigger. Through this, the emotion is often processed and reduced or eliminated.
-
Through the same methods - and since emotions and body are strongly connected - physical pain can be reduced by tapping. Tapping the body, and certain precise parts of the body, activates nerves and helps to process information. This brings relief of physical symptoms and sensations.
When there are emotions or special events linked with the physical pain, the body will usually process them when we pay attention to it. EFT gives it the space to do so.
-
The most common use of EFT is to reduce stress or rewire the nervous response (the part of your body that decides if you’re stressed or not).
We are over stimulated in our daily lives, yet under-connected to our bodies. Therefore, many of us are simply unaware of the levels of stress we are under at any given time.
When we feel not so stressed, but are seeing a miriad of physical symptoms, it is often because the body is still holding on the stress hormones but our brains have tuned it out.
We need to put our attention back into our bodies and release the stress that is stored there.
As an emerging therapy, more and more research is being made on the effects of EFT. Here are some statistics about this method:
After 60 minutes of EFT, Cortisol levels are reduced by around 43% (Source here)
In a study comparing the effects of EFT vs CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) on anxiety, significant results were seen in 90% of people in the EFT group, compared to 63% in the CBT group (source here)
A group study followed trauma survivors over a period of 8 weeks, and noticed a considerable change in the people following an EFT protocol (find this research and more here)
EFT can help regulate genes, particularly genes of the immune system and the hormonal system (source here)
A group studied the effects of EFT on weight loss, and in 6 weeks, noticed a reduction of anxiety by 36,8%, a reduction of depression by 48,5%, and an average of 12,9 lbs loss (5.8 kg). All effects were maintained (source here)
Another study followed university students who were either following an EFT method or tapping on random points. Anxiety was reduced by almost 40% in the ones doing EFT while the others only saw a reduction of 8% (source here)
As you can see, EFT has a powerful impact on the body. I would love to help you also feel its effects in the long term.
Why I Use EFT in My Practice
-
If the body holds the keys, we need to learn how to regulate them
Our society has disconnected mind and body for a long time now, and I often see women who suffer from physical symptoms without thinking or feeling like they are stressed.
What I see is that the body often follows its own rhythms, without the understanding or knowledge of the mind.
So while we have mutliple tools to support the mind, we also need therapies that target the body.
Tools to help the body regulate from its own rhythms.
-
It doesn’t have to be complicated, just precise
The power of EFT is that it speaks directly to your unique struggle without making it incredibly complicated. We encourage authenticity, and the body does the rest.
Your body doesn’t need a fancy protocol in order to regulate itself. What it needs is to be heard, so that you can give it precisely what it needs when it needs it.
The body regulates itself. That is its job. But without taking the time to truly listen to it, no one can know how to support it to regulate. EFT creates a space for regulation that is rooted in listening, honoring, and loving your body.

Some things can’t be talked through… they need to be felt through
We are seldom taught to feel and understand feelings. Most of us have learned to tone our feelings down and to dissociate. As a result, we are profoundly uncomfortable with authentic and raw expressions of feelings and have started to fear them.
EFT creates a safe space for the emotion to pass through us without taking control.
Some things can’t be processed through the mind. We would just judge ourselves and try to tell ourselves that it’s stupid to still be there… but our bodies are having a hard time accepting that. It feels like we are strongly holding on to the parts of us we are trying to get rid of.
In those cases, rationalizing them won’t help. These things need to be processed somatically.
Tapping is a way to gently teach our bodies to release stress, to embrace self-compassion, and to change the beliefs we hold about ourselves.
This is for you if:
You have tried different methods to see changes in your body, but to no avail. You feel absolutely stuck in your symptoms. The weight and stress stay there, the energy stays low, the acne comes back, etc.
You feel or have been told that you are stressed, but have found that conventional therapy isn’t very helpful. You tried journaling, therapy, and self-help books, but you’re still feeling pretty stressed and see little change in your life.
You know that your body has stored a lot of emotions, stress, traumas, but don’t know how to release them
You can see that stress is the underlining cause of multiple imbalances in your body
You have energy crashes, struggle with poor sleep, have constant muscle pain or contractions, go through mood swings, and get frustrated very easily
You want to move through some blockages and issues without spending too much time trying to figure out why they are here and what childhood stories have brought them here
You feel stressed, overwhelmed, drowned in a situation without knowing how to navigate it
